4 Places to Enjoy the Natural Beauty of Denton

Home to a variety of places to visit, we know the choices can be overwhelming. We have come up with a list of our four favorite places to enjoy the natural beauty of Denton to help make your decisions a little easier.

  1. Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center

With more than 2,900 acres of land full of all-natural beauty, the Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center is a must-see. The land was originally established to help protect the fragile bottomland and upland prairie ecosystems. You can find forested areas, prairies, and aquatic habitats and all of the animals that live within them. There are hiking trails open to the public and you can even bring your pooch as long as you keep them on a leash. The center also offers free workshops for some hands-on activities for those who are interested in participating. It is open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily and can be found at 3310 Collins Road.

  1. The Greenbelt Trail

Located between Lake Ray Roberts and Lake Lewisville, the Greenbelt Trail is 1,500 acres of natural beauty. The rivers provide ample opportunity for kayaking all year. There are also hiking trails which also provide great trails for bicyclists. There is access to horse trails if you would like to bring your horse out for a nice getaway on the trail. This beautiful land offers serene views in all four seasons. The Greenbelt Trail can be accessed from FM555, FM428, and US380.

  1. Denia Park

What better way to spend a gorgeous day with your kids than at the park? Denia Park is a large, family-friendly park with lots to do. The park features playgrounds, basketball hoops, soccer goals, as well as a trail that is perfect for a walk. Enjoy the change in the weather this fall, and let the little ones play while you take in the scenery.

  1. Bowling Green Park and Community Garden 

The Bowling Green Park and Community Garden is a beautiful neighborhood park with plenty of amenities. They have benches and picnic tables so you can bring a lunch and spend all day. A playground and swing set will provide entertainment for the little ones in the family. There is a community garden with plots available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Bowling Green also has a plentiful fruit orchard with a variety of peaches, plums, apples, plums, and pomegranates. The fruit is available seasonally, so be sure to watch your timing so you don’t miss out on your favorites.
