5 Features of the Award-Winning 2019 Kia Soul

White 2019 Kia SoulThe award-winning 2019 Kia Soul subcompact crossover offers quirky styling, nimble performance, and state-of-the-art technology, all of which have gained it a growing following. It’s also the winner of the J.D. Power Best Multimedia Quality for a compact vehicle. Offered in Base, Plus (+), and Exclaim (!) trim levels, each has a different engine and transmission. Here are five of the features that have made it so popular.

  1. Exterior Styling

Every Soul model has its own unique styling cues. Base trim offers the distinctive Kia grille in chrome-accented matte black, black bumper trim, color-keyed door handles and power mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a rear light configuration with a ribbon of light.

Plus models have fog lamps, a gloss black grille with chrome accents, color-keyed bumper trim, heated mirrors, and 17-inch wheels. Exclaim trim features red-accented gloss black bumper trim, 18-inch wheels, and mirrors with LED turn signals.

  1. Interior Design

Each Soul is as individual on the inside as it is on the outside. With the rear seats folded, the Soul gives you 61.3 cubic feet of storage space. In the cabin of the Base model, you’ll find cloth seating, air conditioning, and soft-touch door panels and dash. It also features a Flexsteer system with sport, comfort, and normal modes to give you the steering feel that you prefer.
Plus trim gives you remote keyless entry, woven cloth upholstery with contrasting stitching, automatic climate control, and cruise control. Exclaim trim has push-button start, leather-trimmed upholstery with orange stitching, a leather-bound sports steering wheel, and piano black trim.

  1. Engine Options

Each Kia engine makes every journey a fun and exciting ride, whether you’re running to the local store or tackling twisting back roads. Under the hood of the Base trim is peppy 130 horsepower 1.6-liter engine delivering 118 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. It’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission or an available six-speed automatic. For combined city and highway driving, you’ll get up to 31 mpg.
Powering the Plus trim is a responsive 2.0-liter engine producing 161 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, it will return up to 30 mpg for combined driving.
Featured in the Soul Exclaim is a lively 1.6-liter turbocharged engine generating 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque via a dual clutch seven-speed automatic transmission. This combination returns up to 31 mpg combined.

  1. Award-Winning Multimedia

The Base model has a 5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, USB port, and six-speaker audio with satellite radio, auxiliary input, and a media player interface. Optional on Base and standard on Plus trim are a 7-inch touch screen, smartphone integration, and voice recognition. The Exclaim offers an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, premium Harman Kardon audio, and LED speaker lights.

  1. Safety Features

Exclaim models offer a suite of driver assistance features that are available as part of a package for Plus trim. It includes adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
