More Steel
The 2017 Cadenza’s new chassis has been built with up to 50 percent advanced high-strength steel, which is double the amount found in the previous generation. This type of steel’s key advantages are its uniquely lightweight build and increased durability. The end result is a car that accelerates more quickly due to its lighter weight, while better protecting you in the event of a crash.
Quieter Interior
While the hum of a powerful engine can be quite pleasing to listen to, you’d probably prefer a quieter interior to better hear your favorite music or talk shows. For 2017, Kia built the Cadenza’s A-pillars with 13 percent more sound insulation, which helps keep the interior quieter. The windshield, which is kept in place by the A-pillars, is laminated to absorb more outside sound than before.
Sharper Styling
The result of the exterior styling redesign is a more refined model with sharper edges and overall better aesthetics. The headlamps and taillights have a sharper, more modern look, bringing the Cadenza up to date with other luxury sedans. The convex front grille screams splendor and glamour.
Eight-speed Transmission
For the first time, the Kia Cadenza’s engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission for 2017. There are no planned changes to the engine itself — you still get a 3.3-liter V-6 as standard. The main benefit associated with this transmission upgrade is improved fuel economy. You’ll get an extra mile per gallon this year compared to previous versions of the Cadenza. Another benefit of the eight-speed transmission is a longer transmission life expectancy due to quicker torque converter engagement.
Improved Interior Design
Kia has also made quite a few changes to the Cadenza’s interior this year. The LED interior lighting makes for a brilliantly bright cabin, even during the darkest hours of the day. The 2017 Cadenza boasts more legroom, with rear-seat riders gaining an extra half an inch of space to stretch their legs. Front-seat passengers also have more space, with two more feet in passenger volume compared to previous years.
Diamond stitching on the Nappa leather seats adds increased sophistication to this year’s interior design.
2017 marks an important year for this luxury sedan. The upgrades are thorough, and if you have any interest in cars of this class, you could do a lot worse than check out the new Kia Cadenza.
