Here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the weather is warm throughout much of the year. Locals love to take advantage of the pleasant climate by spending time outdoors, especially on restaurant patios. When you’re planning your next meal out, check out these locations that have amazing outdoor patios.
Matchbox American Kitchen + Spirit
Located on Walnut Hill Lane, this restaurant offers an appealing menu with exclusive sliders and pizza. It also boasts a wraparound patio with plenty of space for quite a few diners. Matchbox American Kitchen + Spirit started in Washington, D.C. and shows off an industrial-chic styling throughout the expansive location. You can choose from a variety of wines on tap and an impressive list of local beers.
The menu also includes unique items like seafood linguine, tossed with capers, tomatoes, shrimp, mussels, and white wine butter sauce, spicy tuna tartare tacos, and sea salt flatbread topped with lump crab and guacamole. Wood-fired pizza options include fancier pairings, such as prosciutto, white Turkish fig, mozzarella, black pepper, roasted garlic, Danish blue cheese, and arugula, or the classic pepperoni with extra meat. Try the seasonal sangria, bourbon crisp, or patio pounder lemonade, made with fresh watermelon, lemonade, and house-infused watermelon vodka.
Wayward Sons
The central fire pit on the patio of Wayward Sons makes this restaurant extra popular during the winter months. The fire probably won’t be going during the summer but you can still take advantage of the pleasant ambience, with small round tables surrounded by vines and plants. All menu items are prepared by Chef Graham Dodds. Brunch is a favorite at this spot, with classics like buttermilk biscuits and gravy to share, chilaquiles, eggs Benedict, cornflake crusted French toast, and pancakes stuffed with lemon curd, blueberries, and ricotta cheese, topped with real maple syrup.
If you visit for dinner, try the crispy pork rib starter, followed by smoked lamb brisket or cornmeal-dusted catfish. The triple-cooked fries are also a favorite, served with chives and malt vinegar.
Americano
Although this downtown location might not seem like it would have space for a great patio, it does boast an indoor/outdoor set-up that allows diners to feel like they’re eating in the open air. The Italian-American menu includes all of your favorites, such as house-made pasta noodles topped with flavorful sauces, thin-crust pizza, and chicken parmesan. You can also branch out and try something different, such as the cioppino, served with fennel, swordfish, squid, shrimp, clams, tomatoes, mussels, and grilled sourdough bread. Americano sits within a cozy space in The Joule hotel.
Blind Butcher
At the Blind Butcher, located on Greenville Avenue, foodies can sample menu items made with locally sourced ingredients. Locals often refer to it as the “beer and meat Mecca of Dallas.” It’s open for lunch and dinner with house favorites like pretzel bread served with butcher’s mustard, cheese and meat boards, salads, sausages, sandwiches, and homemade side dishes. Save room for dessert since the chocolate marrow cake is very popular.
Dine al fresco and enjoy the outdoors at one of these restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
