Grab Some Delicious Fried Chicken at These 5 Dallas Restaurants

fried chicken at angies soul foodFried chicken is scrumptious, and luckily, Dallas is full of restaurants that serve up this dish just right. If you’ve got a craving for crispy, mouthwatering, juicy chicken fresh from the fryer, make a stop at one of the following top eateries in Dallas.

1. Whistle Britches

If you’re in the North Dallas area, you have to check out Whistle Britches. Helmed by chef Omar Flores, all the chicken here comes brined in pickle juice for a little extra flavor. It’s then doused in a crispy batter and served on its own or inside of a sandwich. If you’re hungry, get the Whole Bird, which comes with four pieces of white meat, four pieces of dark meat, two wings, coleslaw, potato salad, and two biscuits.

2. Rudy’s Chicken

Rudy’s Chicken is an extremely popular Dallas haunt — in fact, it’s so popular that is was awarded a grant from the city to open a new location with a double drive-thru window. While you can expect a bit of a wait here, it will more than be worth your while. The chicken here is crispy and crunchy on the outside while still maintaining a juicy center. The menu here is simple: choose the type of chicken you want, and it will be accompanied by fries, bread, and jalapenos.

3. Babe’s Chicken Dinner House

While Babe’s has locations across the state, their Carrollton establishment has often been created as starting the fried chicken trend in Dallas. Here, you can choose from both fried chicken and fried chicken tenders, both of which come with your choice of family-size sides. Feast on dishes like green salad, green beans, mashed potatoes, and buttermilk biscuits as you tear into your chicken. Don’t forget a slice of homemade pie for dessert.

4. Pecan Lodge

Pecan Lodge’s fried chicken has a history behind it. Diane Fourton, the owner of the restaurant, had a Mawmaw that made fried chicken every Sunday after church, and today Fourton uses that same recipe to satisfy her guests. Before being cooked, the chicken is brined overnight, coated in a special flour batter, and fried at a super hot temperature to keep it juicy inside and crispy outside. You’ll get to pick two pieces of chicken, along with a side and a fresh roll.

5. Celebration Restaurant

Celebration Restaurant has been around for a long time, and much of that longevity probably stems from their delicious fried chicken meals. Each piece is delicately marinated, breaded, and fried into a taste bud-shattering dish. Choose the fried chicken dinner entree, and you’ll also get homemade breads, three family-style sides, and your choice of fresh fruit, salad, or soup. Best of all, the chicken they use here doesn’t have antibiotics, GMOs, and is pasture raised for a fresher flavor.
There are plenty of great places to grab some fried chicken in Dallas, but these rank among the best. The next time you’re getting a craving, head over to these restaurants to splurge on this classic Southern dish.
