Texas might stay warm all year round, but the high temperatures don’t mean you can’t put on a pair of skates and enjoy gliding around the ice. There are several indoor arenas in the area with free-skate times, whether you stay in Corinth or take a short drive to a nearby rink. The area also offers some fun skating opportunities during the holidays. Check out where you can go ice skating near Corinth, Texas.

Children’s Health StarCenter

The Children’s Health StarCenter is a great spot to get on the ice. Admission for public skating is just $10 for ages 4 and up, and kids 3 and under are free. Skate rental is just $5. The StarCenter has several rinks available, making it easy to find one close to you. You can head to:

  • Euless.
  • Frisco.
  • McKinney.
  • Farmers Branch.
  • Mansfield.
  • Plano.
  • Richardson.

Whether you’re an experienced skater or just getting out on the ice for the first time, you can have fun at the Children’s Health StarCenter rinks. The Bucket Zone is designed for beginning skaters, with props to help them keep their balance as they get a feel for the ice. 

In addition to public skating, the Star Centers also offer lessons in freestyle skating and have youth and adult hockey teams and leagues. You can get an eight-session punch card for hockey or join the adult stick and puck. There are also drop-in times for adult games as long as you preregister. 

The youth open hockey sessions are for young skaters who want to practice with all their gear. It’s ice time for the kids who want to work on their skills or play some pickup games with other skaters or their friends. During youth open hockey, full gear is required at all times, including an approved helmet with a face mask.

Allen Community Ice Rink

The Allen Community Ice Rink is a full-size rink with a state-of-the-art surface. The rink offers learn-to-skate programs for both figure skating and hockey, or you can join one of the hockey leagues. The rink has both recreational and competitive hockey leagues for all ages. Coaches are available for all levels and have the experience to help players improve their skills.

Ice Skate Galleria Dallas

The Galleria Ice Skating Center in Dallas stays open all year round. Admission is $12, and if you need to rent skates, you can get a pair for $5. The Galleria offers free-skate time and is available for birthday parties and broomball. You can even rent the ice for private skating.

The ice skating school has lessons for all ages. If you are just getting started, the beginner group class is for the skater who has never been on the ice. You can also take a private lesson, and if you want to improve your skills, the freestyle lessons will teach you some maneuvers. 

Synchronized skating is also available at The Galleria and is a fun sport for kids who want to work with others. The Galleria sponsors four teams and holds open auditions for skaters.

ICE at the Parks

ICE at the Parks is a full-size skating rink inside the Arlington Mall. It’s open year-round and late on the weekends if you want to make an evening of it. Admission for public skating is $9 for skaters over age 5. Kids 5 and under can skate for free. Skate rentals are just $4. 

This rink is a great place for kids to take lessons. It offers seven- and eight-week sessions for kids ages 3 and up. If you sign them up for group lessons, they can skate for free during public skate hours on the day of their lesson, and they get free passes to use later. 

Hockey skaters also use ICE at the Parks. There are youth programs, adult leagues, and teams for all ages. Even if you’ve never played hockey, you can sign up for lessons at the rink. The hockey program also offers stick and puck and public skating for players. 

Private lessons are available if you are already a figure skater or a hockey player and want to work on your skills. The professional coaching staff is highly trained and has the experience to get you to the next level. 

Holiday Skating 

If you like to get into the holiday spirit by skating through a winter wonderland, then you have some options near Corinth.

Skating at Gaylord Texan

There’s no better way to experience the holidays than skating at Gaylord Texan. The hotel has a 6,000-square-foot rink made with real ice. Tickets are $17.99 a person and include same-day skating and skates. However, you are welcome to bring your own skates.

Enchant Christmas

Enchant Christmas is an annual event in Dallas, and after taking a break for a couple of years, it’s back for 2021. It features an ice-skating trail that winds around a forest of trees and Christmas fun lit with millions of lights. Visitors can rent skates or bring their own. This holiday event runs from Nov. 26 through Jan. 2 at Fair Park.

Panther Island Ice

Head to the Coyote Drive-In in Forth Worth from Nov. 19 through Jan. 17 to enjoy the outdoor skating rink. You can even make a day of it. Start the day with some skating, and then stay for the movie. There’s nothing like a holiday movie under the stars.
