What Makes the 2019 Sedona the Perfect Companion for the Long Haul

2019 Kia Sedona in Denton, TXThere’s nothing more American than an awesome road trip. Whether you’re taking the long haul to meet relatives for a special occasion or just spending some time away from the office, the road trip invokes feelings of freedom and independence. However, taking that journey just isn’t the same without a road-trip-worthy vehicle. Enter the 2019 Kia Sedona. Packed with tons of comfort, tech, and convenience amenities, as well as a tremendous powertrain, the Sedona is more than just a minivan. It’s a lifestyle.

Efficiency and Surprising Power

Although the spacious 2019 Kia Sedona appears massive on the outside, this size advantage doesn’t stymie its power and efficiency. Under the hood, this family-hauler relies on a 3.3-liter V-6 engine to do the heavy lifting. This provides a monstrous 273 horsepower and up to 248 pound-feet of torque that ramps up from zero to 60 in just 7.8 seconds — an impressive number for the segment.

This year, the Sedona ditches a six-speed automatic transmission in favor of an eight-speed to power the front wheels, giving it a smoother drive and terrific acceleration. Despite its power numbers, the minivan still supplies fantastic fuel economy, offering 24 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in the city. Paired with a 21.1-gallon gas tank, you can go over 500 miles on a single fill-up. That’s good enough to get you from Denton to Kansas City for some delicious barbecue without making a stop.

All-New Features in 2019

Kia makes some excellent upgrades to the interior of the Sedona in 2019, and although it’s not explicitly stated by the South Korean automaker, these features make your road trip even better. A wireless charging pad allows you to power up mobile devices without the hassle of wires going every which way, while a Harmon Kardon premium stereo system lets you pump up everything from Raffi to Golden Earring’s “Radar Love” — arguably the best road trip song ever.
While these are all great features for the driver and front passenger, the Sedona doesn’t neglect the people in the back. A dual touch-screen rear-entertainment system supplies the fun in the rear. Thanks to HDMI ports, you can plug in a laptop, PlayStation, or other devices for your entertainment. Plus, with two screens, there aren’t any sibling disputes to speak of. Sometimes peace and quiet is a nice solace for at least a little while.

Space for Everything

The capacious 2019 Kia Sedona comes with standard third-row seating and room for eight occupants with some of the best legroom, headroom, and shoulder room in the segment. What makes this minivan even better is that even at full passenger capacity, it still boasts 33.9 cubic feet of space in the rear — more than double your average sedan trunk space. The Sedona also allows you to fold the seats into dozens of configurations, giving you more opportunities to utilize its 142 cubic foot cargo area.
From the beautiful national parks in the West to the hectic cities of the East, America is a wondrous country that’s best explored on its expansive road system. The 2019 Kia Sedona doesn’t just make this possible; it turns the trip into an experience. That’s something you don’t get just anywhere.
