It has two locations, one in Denton just off Denton Square, and one in Denison. Here you’ll find ax throwing lanes and billiards tables in a fun environment. The ax targets use end-grain wood to help the ax stick, and the ax is yours to keep and use as a coupon when you visit again. They have tournaments for the truly ax-dedicated. Drinks and snacks are available to purchase, including beer, wine, and soda.
The Dive
The Dive is a dive bar and restaurant that provides everything you could want in a night out. It offers a stunning location on Unicorn Lake, with a beautiful patio and tables, Texas-style home comfort food, an entertainment venue, and a cozy interior all in a beautiful brick building. Comfy, casual, and cool is its tagline, and that’s what The Dive strives to provide. It features live entertainments including DJs and bands, salsa nights, trivia nights, and has a collection of pub games like darts, pool tables, and shuffleboard, for all your nightlife, fun-time requirements.
Oak St. Drafthouse and Cocktail Parlor
Located in a historic Victorian house that was built in 1886, in the same spot where it still stands, the Oak St. Drafthouse and Cocktail Parlor offers craft beers and cocktails in a quaint setting. They have over 70 beers on tap, with 48 beers inside, and the rest at the outside patio bar which opens Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. They support local brewers and the first 24 beers are always brewed in Texas. Oak St.Drafthouse has a large dog-friendly back patio, which even has outdoor table tennis.
Walter’s Tavern
A sports bar with a restaurant and outside patio, Walter’s Tavern was opened in 2015 and has been getting better ever since. The owner Chris Walter is a five-star chef, and you won’t find your average bar food here. They offer a refined menu with filet mignon, seafood, salads, pasta, and burgers, for a start. They have added a beautiful outdoor patio with a bar, where you can enjoy an excellent meal, a cold drink, and watch your favorite sport. At Walter’s Tavern, they even have live entertainment on the weekends with no cover charge.
Mulberry St. Cantina
If you love tequila and mezcal then head straight to Mulberry St Cantina. Located in the heart of Denton just up the road from Corinth, this charming venue is the perfect place to relax with some friends and enjoy excellent craft cocktails. Their margaritas range in price from $5 to $20, all made with the finest fresh ingredients, while their ever-changing tequila selection has over a hundred options to choose from. They have over twenty different kinds of mezcal to delight your palate. They also offer bottles and cans of beer, both local and imported, as well as a not-too-shabby collection of spirits.
Andy’s
This unique place is housed in one of the oldest historic buildings in the downtown Denton square. It offers three separate spaces for different moods. The Basement is a colorful cavern with original stone walls serving a menu of specialty waffles. Andy’s Venue is a unique live entertainment space hosting the best in local, regional, and national acts, and proclaimed to be the “best little entertainment venue in North Texas.” At the top of the building is Pascall’s Bar, a speakeasy that is reached by an unmarked outside door to a staircase. They serve handcrafted cocktails in a charming lounge.
East Side
A drink lover’s dream, East Side offers over 80 beers on tap, 60 of which are locally made in Texas. They have a large outdoor deck patio and beer garden where you can enjoy the Texas sunshine while sipping a cold Texas beer. Food trucks are sometimes found on site, and dogs are always welcome in the beer garden. They also have an impressive selection of over 130 kinds of bourbon, whiskey, and scotch for you to enjoy, along with many other spirits, wine, and cocktails. They have a few TVs for local sports, along with cornhole, darts, and foosball.
