Stylish Commuters: Meet the 2019 Kia Soul

2019 Kia Soul in Denton, TXThe 2019 Kia Soul is a subcompact crossover with a big car presence, and its quirky styling makes it stand out from the crowd. The three trim levels are Base, Plus (+), and Exclaim (!), and each comes with a different engine and gearbox. Here are four features that make the Soul unique in its class.

Engine Choice

A small car doesn’t have to be a boring one. The engine options for the Soul make it an exciting and fun car to drive, whether you’re commuting in the city or taking in the twists and turns on the back roads.
The Base model has a 1.6-liter engine producing 130 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. You can opt for the available six-speed automatic transmission. This engine will return up to 30 mpg for combined driving, or 31 mpg with automatic transmission.
The Soul Plus gets a 161 horsepower 2.0-liter engine giving you 150 pound-feet of torque and is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. Combined driving will give you up to 30 mpg.
The Souls Exclaim features a turbocharged 1.6-liter unit which produces 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and will return up to 31 mpg.

Exterior Styling

Each trim level has its own unique styling elements. The Base has Kia’s signature grille design in matte black with chrome accents, black bumper inserts, 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, body-color door handles and power mirrors, and the continuous line of the rear light configuration.
The Plus features gloss black and chrome grille, body-colored bumper inserts, fog lights. 17-inch wheels, and heated mirrors. The exclaim gets gloss black bumper inserts with red accents, mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, and 18-inch 10-spoke wheels.

Interior Features

The interior of each Soul is as individual as the outside, but they all offer an impressive 61.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. The Base trim has cloth upholstery, soft-touch dash and door panels, air conditioning, and a Flexsteer system which allows you to adjust the feel of the steering with Normal, Comfort, and Sport modes.
Soul Plus adds woven cloth seating with contrast stitching, cruise control, automatic climate control, and remote keyless entry. Soul Exclaim offers leather-trimmed seats with orange stitching, leather sports steering wheel, leatherette trim, satin chrome door handles piano black accents and push-button start.

Option Packages

A number of optional packages enable you to personalize your Soul, whichever trim you choose. The Base Convenience package includes climate control, upgrade from 5-inch touch screen to 7-inch, voice recognition, and smartphone integration.
The Plus Audio adds a premium audio system, 8-inch screen, and upgraded interior materials. Adding the Primo package gives you a panoramic sunroof, xenon headlights, and many instrumentations and driver convenience upgrades, as well as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure alert, blind spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking.
