One of the best reasons to shop at a farmers market like the one held at the Denton Community Market is access to locally grown foods harvested at the peak of the season. The flavors and nutrients found within freshly harvested food often surpass produce that you’d buy in a big-chain grocery store. In addition, shopping locally helps to support local farmers, ranchers, bakers, and artists. Be sure to check out other local farmer’s markets in McKinney, TX and nearby areas.

Most farmers markets are kid-friendly and often offer fun kid activities such as face painting, sing-a-longs, and kid-specific games. Bringing the family to a farmers market is a great way to spend time together and for everyone to learn about where the food they eat comes from. As you and your family stroll through the Denton Community Market, take the time to visit with friends and neighbors, make new friends, and help develop a strong connection to the local Denton community.

About the Denton Community Market

The mission statement of the Denton Community Market is Bringing the Community Together. Every Saturday from April through November, artists, food vendors, farmers, craftspeople, and musicians gather at the Historic Park of Denton County to sell their wares and entertain locals and visitors. Since 2009, the nonprofit Denton Community Market has brought families, friends, and community together for a day of fun as well as providing producer-only farm and art products to all who visit the market.

In addition to providing a space for locals to buy farm-fresh products grown and raised by local producers, the Denton Community Market provides space for consumers to learn about sustainable farming and ranching practices as well as how these practices create environmental stewardship for future generations. The market also accepts SNAP and WIC FMNP programs on select items such as staple foods and vegetable seeds meant to grow at home or in community gardens. The Denton Community Market, located at 317 W. Mulberry St., is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April through November.
