What To Expect In The New 2024 Kia Seltos

SUVs are hugely popular these days, and rightly so. No other vehicle blends the characteristics of a sedan or hatchback with those of a larger vehicle. These features make it ideal if you don’t want to own multiple cars for different purposes. The Kia Seltos is an excellent example of an SUV that’s agile enough to navigate city traffic but also spacious and off-road capable. Although the 2024 Seltos doesn’t feature any major changes, Kia manages to refresh an already great vehicle.

What’s New for 2024?

The 2024 Kia Seltos has received a style update, several new tech features, and a more powerful engine compared to last year’s model. On the interior, it gets a new digital gauge cluster to the left of the touch-screen interface, which allows you to personalize the information you want to see. Another new addition to the interior is a head-up display that shows relevant information in real time on the vehicle’s windshield. On the outside, the 2024 Seltos receives a redesigned grille and bumpers, new lighting elements, and restyled wheels.

The 2023 version featured an optional turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that could produce up to 170 horsepower. Kia’s engineers have managed to get more out of the same engine, which now has an output of up to 195 horsepower. This is partly due to a new eight-speed automatic transmission compared to the previous model’s seven-speed version.

Great Features in Every Trim

As you would expect from a Kia SUV, the 2024 Seltos is stacked with useful and eye-catching features, with many of them being standard. There are five trims available: the LX, S, EX, X-Line, and SX. Let’s look at a short breakdown of what each has to offer.

LX Trim

Although this is the base version of the 2024 Kia Seltos, it still features an impressive list of standard features. The standard powertrain includes a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 146 horsepower and a continuously variable automatic transmission. It also comes with standard all-wheel drive, improving the SUV’s capability on slippery surfaces and light off-road trails. Other notable features include 17-inch wheels, a six-speaker sound system, an 8-inch touch-screen interface, and smartphone connectivity through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

S Trim

The new trim adds some new features, such as fog lights, roof rails, a proximity keyless entry system with push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and synthetic leather upholstery. It also enhances existing ones, such as by increasing the touch-screen interface’s size to 10.25 inches and adding an integrated navigation system.

EX Trim

This next trim comes with a few convenient features. A spectacular sunroof increases cabin luminosity while providing you and your passengers with a great view. The heated front seats are a great addition for those cold mornings in Texas winters, and the wireless phone charger is a welcome convenience feature.

X-Line Trim

This trim builds on the EX and adds some useful and stylish features. This is the first trim where the above-mentioned turbocharged 195-horsepower engine comes standard. It also gets several style enhancements, such as larger 18-inch wheels and black roof rails and accents.

SX Trim

The 2024 Kia Seltos’ top trim has all the features from lower levels, plus several new ones. It includes LED headlights, which are both useful and stylish, plus a clean-sounding Bose premium audio system. There’s also an option for ventilated front seats, which provide exceptional comfort when the temperature climbs in the summers.

Comfort and Utility

Many people buy SUVs because they’re comfortable and useful, with the 2024 Kia Seltos scoring high marks in both categories. Its interior is larger than it may seem from the outside and one of the largest in the small SUV class. The suspension system absorbs most minor road bumps, and the cabin is well insulated against exterior noise, making the Seltos very comfortable on long drives for both you and your passengers.

It also has an impressive cargo capacity for its size, offering 26.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the two rows of seats. If you need more, the bottom row folds to create 62.8 cubic feet of cargo space. There are also plenty of small storage spaces throughout the cabin. The 2024 Seltos can tow up to around 2,000 pounds, meaning you can safely take a small camper or boat with you on your road trips.

Plenty of Advanced Driver Aids

No modern vehicle is complete without a long list of active safety systems that help you notice any potential road incidents in time. The 2024 Kia Seltos is no different, and it features many advanced driver aids, with the most useful of them being included in the base trim. Some of them are:

  • Forward collision mitigation system: Issues a visual and auditory warning if it senses an imminent frontal collision and even applies the brakes if you don’t react in time.
  • Lane-keeping assist: Warns you if the Seltos starts to drift from the center of its lane and automatically takes corrective measures to steer it back.
  • Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert: Alerts you if another vehicle enters the Seltos’ blind spot or when a vehicle is approaching from either side while backing up.
  • Adaptive cruise control: Maintains a steady speed and makes automatic adjustments to ensure your vehicle stays a constant distance from the car in front of it.
  • Automatic high beams: Increases visibility on dark roads without affecting oncoming drivers by automatically switching from high to low beams whenever another car approaches from the opposite direction.
